Cindy Grayson: Bio

Cindy Grayson - singer/songwriter/artist/performer

I was born in Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan, lived in the Bahama's on the Island of Great Inagua until 1963 when I moved to the states. I then lived in Gatesville, Tx for a year and then in Nespelum ( sp?) Washington State, Nesperce Indian Reservation for a year after which I moved to the Talahina Choctaw Indian Reservation for a year & a half, then back to Gatesville , Tx for 1/2 a yr and at that point , my father quit working for the US Government as a Indian Health Officer and he took the job as Collage Dr at Stephen F. Austin which has since then become a university. Being pretty much a loner from moving so much, I took to writing poetry and writing music. I've had 1 year of violin when I was very young and since then, I've taken 1 & 1/2 years of flute, 9 yrs of choir and sight reading, 6 yrs of piano but the instrument I got at the age of 12 was a guitar. It's the only instrument I never put down and pretty much taught myself. My introduction to Folk Music I got from my father and my brother. I was five when I use to listen to my brother play" The Cat Came Back" on the guitar and I knew at that point, I had to have a guitar. The Government gave my Dad 6 weeks vacation time during the summers and we drove to every hysterical marker and fort and National park Daddy could find. While we drove, we learned all the songs he grew up with - in 5 part harmony. At the age of 6 I was on the stage for the first time and by the time I was 15 I was writing my own music and playing. I love Folk, Folk Rock , Celtic, Blues, and many other forms of music but I guess the theme of the basic love song touches most of what I do. A human desire which in everyday life seems so hard to find but so close to the touch in a song.
All that being said, what I do for money is gardening. It is in the silent music and the smell of the earth where I get a great many of my ideas and create most of my dreams that inspire my music and my art. I hope with this web site I can share some of it with you.

Stanley King - Bass Player

Stan King is a native of Woden, Texas. He use to be in the Airforce but these days, lives in Woden surrounded by his family. He's been playing bass for only about 4 years but I believe has only tapped into a fraction of his ability. I know he blows me away and in the three years we've played together, I've never had to make one correction in any of his bass backup accompaniments for anything we've played. He referes to himself as " just the bass player " but he is truely a wizard with his bass and his handleing of all the P.A. equipment. I don't know what I'd do without him.
